Crowns
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" preserve the functionality of damaged teeth.
A filling fills a part of the tooth whereas a crown covers the whole tooth.
Crowns may be used to protect a weak tooth, to restore an already broken tooth,
to cover and support a tooth with a large filling, to hold a dental bridge in place
and/or to improve its appearance.
Crowns can be made out of porcelain (meaning some sort of dental ceramic),
metal (a gold or other metal alloy), or a combination of both.
During the crown procedure, your dentist prepares the tooth and makes a molded impression of
the teeth to send to a dental laboratory. A fitted, temporary crown is created during this
visit to temporarily protect the tooth while the final restoration is being made in the dental
laboratory. Once completed, the crown is cemented or adhesively bonded at a later visit.
CEREC ONE-VISIT CROWNS
We are pleased to offer our patients an amazing new technology that provides tooth restoration in just one visit!
With Cerec's CAD-CAM technology, the crown is made by a computer while you wait, thus eliminating
the second appointment and the temporary crown.
These Cerec crowns are milled out of pure ceramic.
